I really don&amp;#39;t feel I can do a greater service than to help students become more aware/critical of the images that they&amp;#39;re bombarded with on a daily basis. Outside of maybe an art class we don&amp;#39;t necessarily teach students how to look at pictures. The Chicago Sun Times made a comment about one of my favorite books that happens to be a graphic novel, &amp;quot;American Born Chinese,&amp;quot; that I thought related to it. They said,&amp;quot;Visually astute teens will find the tale of suppressed identity as compelling as a movie.&amp;quot; I guess the question is are teachers teaching kids to be visually astute?</content><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/7063394374360631015/4399249557389017553/comments/default/1859084255453412006'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/7063394374360631015/4399249557389017553/comments/default/1859084255453412006'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://www.outfromthecomicshop.com/2010/01/visual-literacy-vocabulary.html?showComment=1265734885949#c1859084255453412006' title=''/><author><name>Sarah</name><uri>http://www.blogger.com/profile/10590555328378765057</uri><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:image xmlns:gd='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005' rel='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#thumbnail' width='16' height='16' src='http://img2.blogblog.com/img/b16-rounded.gif'/></author><thr:in-reply-to xmlns:thr='http://purl.org/syndication/thread/1.0' href='http://www.outfromthecomicshop.com/2010/01/visual-literacy-vocabulary.html' ref='tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7063394374360631015.post-4399249557389017553' source='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/7063394374360631015/posts/default/4399249557389017553' type='text/html'/><gd:extendedProperty xmlns:gd='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005' name='blogger.itemClass' value='pid-1184430058'/></entry></feed>
